Commuters are dealing with a treacherous commute on Friday morning, a day after a snow storm that hit the tri-state area.
Black ice is a threat, with temperatures below freezing and the roads still wet from yesterday’s snowfall. Friday’s high will only reach 30 degrees, with the day beginning with temperatures in the 20’s.
The Long Island Rail Road has reduced service with 9 trains canceled for the morning rush. The other mass transit systems are running a regular schedule, but delays are possible.
New York City schools are open, although others throughout the tri-state area are closed or have delayed openings. Alternate side of the street parking rules are suspended
A 59-year-old doorman at an Upper East Side building died on Thursday while shoveling snow. Miguel Gonzalez was cleaning the steps at a building on East 93rd Street when he slipped and fell through a window.
