According to the news tabloid show 'Inside Edition' over 100 police and judicial personnel are using the reflective license plate coverings that block red light and toll cameras on their personal vehicles.
NYPD spokesperson Peter Donald said that precinct commanders have made it a priority to make sure everyone is obeying traffic laws.
Nearly half of the vehicles found to have the reflective coverings were found parked by NYPD Headquarters at 1 Police Plaza.
A Police memo that was distributed throughout the force in December reminded personnel to correct any issues with their license plates.
