11 People Arrested During NYU Protest

Dozens of people gathered on the campus of NYU on Thursday night to protest a scheduled speech by Gavin McInnes, the co-founder of Vice Media.

Eleven people were arrested.  At one point, some of the protesters made it inside the event.

“I’m disappointed that many students on this campus are so disrespectful when it comes to hearing opposing speakers,” the NYU College Republicans said in a statement.

McInness was invited by the College Republicans and the speech went on as scheduled.

“The purpose of this event was to promote free speech and NOT to promote certain ideas,” the College Republicans said.
