Ideally you never have to make a call to 911 but when you do it is usually in a very urgent situation that requires a quick resolution. While 911 operators are great at what they do, there are some situations where it is impossible for them to get support where it’s needed in time. Rich DeMuro, host of ‘Rich on Tech’ on WOR Sunday nights, spoke with Mendte in the Morning about the new Android update that can help people get instant support.
“When you’re on an Android phone, you dial 911; if it’s supported you can send live video to the operator,” DeMuro told host Larry Mendte. “They can see what’s happening and they can even walk you through things like CPR or medical issues or anything else if you can’t speak.”
DeMuro thinks the update is a good extra safety measure to have in place: “A similar update rolled out on the iPhone last year so this just adds one more layer to help people and I think it’s a great thing.”
