Curtis Sliwa Calls Out The Media For Zohran Mamdani Image Double-Standard

Zohran Mamdani took his five borough anti-Trump mayoral campaign tour to Staten Island on Wednesday, and the reception he got in the forgotten borough was less than warm. Appearing at a Stapleton Heights diner, Mamdani smiled and waved at protestors who made it clear they’re not buying the avowed socialist’s campaign message. Yet, Mamdani continues to hold a comfortable 44-25% lead over independent Andrew Cuomo in a Siena College poll. Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa is in third place with 12%; he appeared on 710 WOR’s Mendte in the Morning program to explain why the tone-deaf Democratic candidate’s appearance fell flat in Staten Island.

Sliwa told host Larry Mendte that no candidate should be given a free pass on the things they’ve said and done, yet that’s what Mamdani has been getting from the media. “This guy gave the finger to the statue of Christopher Columbus a few years ago, blew it out on his various social network platforms...F-bombs all over the place. Notice of late, when he did an Etch-a-Sketch and said, well, you really can’t hold me responsible for anything I said before I was sworn in as an assemblyman on January 1st of 2021 because that was just youthful indiscretion- no, no, no, no, no. I get judged for everything I’ve done in my 71 years in life. So does Andrew Cuomo, so does Eric Adams. That’s fair and square. He should not be judged on a different level.”

Defunding the police is another area where Sliwa says Mamdani has been getting a free pass. “Now he’s protected by NYPD armed officers 24/7, driven around in a taxpayer-funded SUV- whoa, whoa, have times changed. He suggested that instead of police, there’d be social workers for the people when they’re in need… he’s like every other politician- a sanctimonious hypocrite!”
