The MTA was set to raise the fares for the NYC subway but have pushed that price hike back from its normal beginning of August start date. While this may seem like good news, many New Yorkers are still upset with the previous price hike and where their fare money is going. Natalie Migliore, WOR Beat on the Street Reporter, asked NYC subway riders about their thoughts on the state of the subways.
“With the amount of money they put in and take from us it should get better,” one rider told Migliore. “It’s a little expensive for the condition,” another citizen said to Migliore.
One person that Migliore spoke to had some ideas for how to improve safety while traveling: “I see cops, but I think cops should be also on the train, not just in the station… I think there should be cameras on the train cars, in every car and somebody should watch what’s going on.”
