Nobody in government has any definitive answers as to where the drones are coming from, even though the number of sightings over the past two weeks continues to rise. One frustrated New Jersey State Assemblyman, however, is willing to try and figure out the answer himself. Brian Bergen (R-26) has reportedly told Governor Phil Murphy, “Borrow me an Apache helicopter from the PA National Guard and I’ll put an end to the drone problem myself.” He may be jesting, but as the former Army captain indicated on the WOR Morning Show, common sense dictates that somebody at the national level should have already tried to at least identify the source of the drones.
“I don’t believe they should be shot down, actually,” Bergen told host Larry Mendte. “I have been in combat, and I’ve seen bullets fly through the air. It’s a dangerous thing, and it’s certainly not something I want to even be attempted here in New Jersey. But what we could do, with the resources of the National Guard or the State Police, is we could utilize the sensors and follow one of these things back to wherever the hell they’re coming from. It should not be that hard to figure this out and that has been my contention the whole time- get us up in an aircraft, find one of these suckers and follow it back to wherever it’s going.”
Bergen, who has seen the drones over Denville, says the state police have determined the objects are drones; it is the denial at the federal level that the activity is unusual enough to even investigate that is irksome. “The colonel of the state police in New Jersey, when they gave us a briefing, told us that one of his helicopters was hovering directly above what he called a six-foot drone, and that he had his helicopter land because he felt it was unsafe for the pilots in case the drone acted erratically. You have what I would consider some pretty trustworthy, legitimate people telling you that it happened, and they refuse to acknowledge them.”
