New York City's ICE director Kenneth Genalo was in the room for the meeting when Mayor Adams and border Czar Tom Homan laid out their plans for riding NYC of illegals.
Genalo said, "It was an outstanding meeting between Mayor Adams, Tom Homan, and me. The highlight to me was seeing the "cop" in Mayor Adams come back to the surface. Adams wants to keep the citizens of NYC safe. He agrees with us that these individuals who have committed heinous crimes should be turned over to ICE for removal from The United States of America, and he believes collaboration and cooperation should be afforded between the NYPD and the New York Department of Corrections. We did reach some common ground on a lot of things. We're hoping to get back into Rikers Island so we can vet foreign-born nationals that are being released from Rickers to determine if they are amenable to removal proceedings and take custody of them, and also collaborate with the NYPD when they encounter these individuals on the streets and contact ICE. That would be a win for New York City and keep citizens safe.
