The role of the New York City Council is to work to improve the lives of the people living in New York City through legislation. Unfortunately for the city’s residents, the council does not seem to understand what they want or what makes this city safe. Staten Island Rep. and New York City Council Minority Leader Joe Borelli talked with the WOR Morning Show about the failings of the council and what the issue seems to be.
“They want safe streets, but they care more about the rights of criminal enterprises than they do about regular average New Yorkers,” Borelli tells host Larry Mendte. “There is just a massive disconnect.”
Borelli believes that the council is listening to the wrong people when it comes to decision making: “People just pander to a small group of woke lefties, and they win their Democratic primary, and they go on to be council members who serve a very vocal minority.”
