The Central Park Five Sue Trump For Defamation

Len Berman and Michael Riedel asked Shanin Spector, the lawyer for the Central Park Five what he hopes to achieve by suing President Trump for allegedly saying the five men involved in the crime pleaded guilty and admitted they killed the victim, which is false.

Spector said, "Well, I don't think you'd like it if somebody said to a National TV audience of 67 million that you killed a woman and plead guilty to the crime when you didn't. Now, 20 years after the real perpetrator came forward and was sent to prison, they have to clear their names again. They want a trial, and if the jury finds they were defamed by Mr. Trump, they'd like to be compensated for their loss of reputation and emotional distress. They also want damages to punish Mr. Trump and detour him from this kind of behavior in the future.
