With Three Weeks Until The Big Day, What Will They Do For A Few More Votes?

With three weeks to go until Election Day, the pundits and prognosticators can finally start to look at polling data and provide voters with an educated guess about what to expect when the results finally start coming in. They can watch the candidates’ every move and speech in the interim to see how that might shape the outcome. National Review Editor-in-Chief Rich Lowry is doing just that as the Trump and Harris campaigns implement the strategies that they hope will make the difference. He spoke on 710 WOR’s Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning program to discuss their moves in the home stretch, starting with Harris’ surprising decision to do an interview with Bret Baier on Fox.

“I think panic has a little to do with it,” Lowry opined for Berman and Riedel. “They realize there are not many big events left in this campaign with three weeks left; there’s not going to be debate or anything like that, so we’re talking about this one in a way we wouldn’t be talking about if she was going on with Rachel Maddow, and she wants to win over the kind of Nikki Haley-type Republicans, and they watch Fox and so do a lot of independents. They’ve been walking this tightrope all along, where they realize the vulnerabilities of her being out there in extemporaneous settings, but on the other hand they can’t cocoon her, and a switch went off the last two weeks or so where they realized they can’t cocoon her, so this will be her biggest media event yet.”

As for the big night itself, a giddy Lowry sounded like a child on Christmas Eve as he described what to expect. “We need to look at when the polls close in North Carolina and Georgia, so that would be an indication of whether Kamala is going to potentially pick off something in the Sun Belt, which makes her path much easier, or whether she’s going to be entirely dependent on the ‘blue-wall’ states, and then Pennsylvania is the big enchilada. I just think Pennsylvania might be counting for days. They do this idiotic system where they don’t count the early vote until Election Day, which just delays things, creates doubts.”
