Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning talked with New Jersey Congressman Josh Gottheimer about the fight to keep AM radio in all new cars and trucks.
Gottheimer and 260 other members of the House of Representatives have pushed for AM radios to be in all new vehicles, including electric cars. Electric vehicle makers tried to drop AM radios from their vehicles because of a static issue. Consumers found out it could be fixed for very little money and asked for AM in their vehicles also.
AM radio is the government's go-to for distributing important information like nuclear threats, weather disasters, cyber-attacks, and national emergency alert systems. Gottheimer hopes to have the AM radio bill included in the National Defense bill at the end of the year.
