Allan Lichtman, American historian and long-time professor at American University in Washington, DC believes that we will see history made in November’s election. Lichtman joined 710 WOR’s Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning to share his prediction for the 2024 election between former President Donald Trump and sitting Vice President Kamala Harris, and told Len and Michael, “We are going to have a new pathbreaking President…that Kamala Harris will become the first woman president of the United States, at least cracking if not shattering the glass ceiling.” Lichtman’s forecast, which has been accurate for nine of the last 10 Presidential elections (including Donald Trump’s 2016 win), is based on what he describes as thirteen "keys" he uses to determine the strength and performance of the incumbent party in the White House.
Lichtman also told Berman and Riedel that Sunday’s second assassination attempt on Donald Trump would not affect the vote. Lichtman said, “Absolutely not; I deliberately issued my prediction before the debate because I want to get across my point that it’s governing not the events of the campaign that counts.”
