Rich Lowry, editor-in-chief of the National Review explains the importance of the September 10 debate for Trump and Harris.
Lowry explained that even though Kamala Harris has had a great five weeks, she didn't receive a convention bump, and the race remains a toss-up, which elevates the importance of the debate. The difficulty Harris will face in the debate is her reversal on many of the key platforms the Democrats have run on. She wanted to end fracking, now she's for it, she was against closing the border, now she wants it closed, and most recently she has talked about ending the electric vehicle mandate which was a core commitment the democrats were pushing to keep the climate control people happy. Trump and Harris will attempt to make the debate about character differences. Kamala will remind people Trump wants tax cuts for the rich, because of that, Trump must make Harris explain the lies and flip-flopping the Democrats have pulled since she became the candidate.
