NYPD Increases Security After Assassination Attempt On Donald Trump

New York City Police have stepped up their presence at key locations around the five boroughs following the shooting that injured former President Donald Trump over the weekend.

"Out of an abundance of caution, the NYPD is surging officers to certain sites across the five boroughs," Mayor Eric Adams said.

Trump was shot in the ear, while an innocent bystander was killed and two others were seriously injured. The shooting was apparently carried out by a 20-year-old gunman who was positioned on a rooftop about 150 yards away from the former president.

“The events that unfolded at (Saturday's) rally in Pennsylvania are horrific. No matter our disagreements, we must all agree that violence of any kind is unacceptable," Adams said.

Trump Tower and 40 Wall Street are among the buildings receiving an increased level of protection from the NYPD.
