Nassau County Bans Trans-Gender Men From Competing Against Women

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and the Nassau County legislators successfully passed a bill that bans all trans-gender athletes from participating in women's and girls' sports at county run facilities.

Blakeman decreed an executive order banning trans-men from competing against women a few months ago, but that was overturned by the New York Supreme Court claiming the County Executive did not have the power to enact the order. "Blakeman said the ban is not an anti- transgender issue. It's to protect the integrity of women's sports, and to make a safe environment for women to participate."
