Malliotakis: Biden Was 'Old Man That Yells At Clouds' During SOTU Address

President Biden gave the State of the Union speech Thursday night in front of a packed House chamber. For everyone who felt the hour-plus presentation was a stirring speech that showed he can still do the job, there was another person who thought it was little more than an angry campaign speech. Among those in attendance was Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY11th). Malliotakis appeared on 710 WOR’s Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning program to lay out her reasons why she falls into the latter category.

“You know the old man that yells at the cloud in The Simpsons?” Malliotakis suggested to Berman and Riedel. “That’s what it reminds me of. I mean, he’s the guy that stands and tells you to get off his lawn. I don’t think it was a friendly tone, I don’t think it was an optimistic tone, and he seemed to be, like, half the time I couldn’t understand what he was trying to say… I’ll be honest, I’ve been to three of his speeches; this was by far the worst. And he had a tone as if he was at a campaign rally. He had to refer to ‘his predecessor,’ what, 13 times or so?”

If there were any big surprises on the night, Malliotakis indicated perhaps the one that came before the speech—when disgraced ex-Congressman George Santos walked through the chamber.

“This is unbelievable," she said. "I mean, the guy’s unbelievable, to show up last night, and then try to take a seat from a member. He tried to sit right in the aisle, you know. Right in the aisle, and some of the Freedom Caucus guys came and kicked him out. People were quite surprised that he had the guts to show up after what he has put this Congress and the American people through.”
