Public hearings are being held on Tuesday ahead of a proposed fare hikes by NJ Transit.
The plan is to raise fares by 15 percent this year and then begin annual three percent increases in 2025. The agency has defended the proposed hike, saying it hasn't raised fares in nine years.
The public hearings are being held in Paterson and Hackensack.
