Concha: You'd Never Know Who Won in Iowa If You Saw the Mainstream Media

After months of speculation and posturing, the first tangible results of the 2024 campaign season are in and, not surprisingly, Donald Trump easily won the Iowa Caucus on the Republican side. In receiving 51% of the vote, Trump easily captured a landslide victory, yet the win barely seemed to register more than a passing mention with much of the mainstream media. Fox contributor Joe Concha thinks Trump will have to buck the media perception of him entirely if he is to win. He appeared on 710 WOR’s Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning program to ask the obvious: are the mainstream media doing everything in their power to keep Trump out of the Oval Office?

“[On] CNN, Jake Tapper jumped in once Donald Trump started talking about all the illegal migrants that are crossing over the U.S. border,” Concha pointed out to Berman and Riedel about the post-Caucus analysis, “…and said, ‘well, we’re not going to allow this sort of rhetoric on the air that attacks immigrants’, and that’s not what Trump was doing. So, overall, what we saw last night is a preview of what we’re going to see for the next ten, eleven months, up until Election Day, which is Trump is Hitler, Trump is bad, and Joe Biden must be re-elected. Basically, without saying it, that’s what they’re going to do in terms of that.”

The willingness of the major media outlets to outright ignore the likely GOP candidate baffles Concha. “I don’t know how you say, ‘We can’t allow this person to be on our air,’ when he could be the next President of the United States, and I think it just shows you that most of our media is, the political media, is located in New York and Washington. They overwhelmingly vote Democrat, and that’s fine, but I think both sides should be shown and should be heard. I know that a foreign concept, but that’s the way media should operate.”
