Beginning on Tuesday, New York City officials will begin enforcing a limit on how long migrants with children will be allowed to stay in the shelter system.
They'll be forced out after 60 days, with critics saying that families will be sleeping on the streets.
"This is not going to be a city where we're going to place children and families on the street and have them sleep on the street. That is not going to happen," Mayor Eric Adams said.
Families being forced out of the shelter will be able to reapply for a spot in the system. However, priority will be given to newly arriving migrants.
