Thank You, Joe Bartlett

After 37 years with WOR, Joe Bartlett is anchoring the news for the final time on Wednesday.

Joe joined WOR full time in 1986 after serving as a stringer from Albany for the six years prior. He served as News Director for most of that time, helping New York get through its toughest moments such as the September 11th terror attacks and Superstorm Sandy. He celebrated championships in the Canyon of Heroes and he reported on six New York City mayors, six New York governors and seven presidents of the United States. Joe has traveled the world, broken news stories and won many awards.

But Joe's value to WOR and the listening audience extends well beyond the newsroom. He's been an important part of 10 different morning shows that began with John A. Gambling and continued until the present with "Len Berman and Michael Riedel in the Morning," even co-hosting the morning show himself for a time while also hosting his Saturday morning show. In five different decades, he has helped New Yorkers wake up and has been a reliable, informed and friendly voice in the car on the way to work.

For all of his accomplishments on the air, Joe's best work has been behind the scenes . More than a co-worker or colleague, Joe is a friend and an ally who supports everyone around him. He's a teacher and a mentor who has welcomed countless people into the radio industry and helped them build successful careers of their own. He's funny, kind, a loyal Giants fan and has worked with the St. Baldrick's Foundation to raise money for kids with cancer.

Everyone at WOR wishes Joe lots of birdies, beautiful South Carolina weather and time with his grandchildren. Thank you Joe and enjoy your retirement.
