After a group of migrants spent three nights sleeping on the sidewalk outside the Watson Hotel in Hell’s Kitchen, police moved in on Wednesday night and cleared them out.
Officers gave a couple dozen migrants the choice of getting on a bus to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal or be arrested. Most of the migrants got on the bus.
The group of single men had been removed from the hotel to create room for migrants with families. But the group protested a move to the cruise terminal, complaining that the conditions weren’t as good.
“I heard all of these complaints about no heat, no hot water, no food. And when I went there and saw there’s clean bathrooms, heat, warm,” Mayor Adams said.
