NYPD Identifies Person Of Interest In Brooklyn Subway Mass Shooting

The NYPD has identified a person of interest in Tuesday morning's shooting at a Brooklyn subway station that left 10 commuters with gunshot wounds.

Police are looking for a man named Frank James, whom they have described as a person of interest in the case. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call NYPD Tips at 1-800-577-TIPS.

The gunman donned a gas mask and activated a smoke bomb-like device aboard a Manhattan-bound N train just before 8:30 this morning as the train pulled into 36th Street and Fourth Avenue station. He still on the loose almost twelve hours later.

The FDNY reported that at least 19 total straphangers were hurt in the shooting and the chaos that ensued on the subway platform. No fatalities were reported as of late Tuesday afternoon.

A weapon was recovered from the scene, along with ammunition, smoke canisters and fireworks. Authorities also found gasoline on the subway car, further suggesting that the attack was premeditated.

The NYPD would not speculate as to the motive of the attack.

Earlier Tuesday, the suspect was described as a Black male, about 5-foot-5-inches tall with a heavy build. He was wearing a green construction vest over a grey hoodie at the time of the incident.
