NYC Prepares For More Snow Thursday, Dangerous Cold Temperatures Friday

A cold front will bring rain and snow to the Tri-State area overnight Wednesday into Thursday.

The rain is expected to arrive first, in the wee hours of the morning Thursday, and then turn to snow by the morning rush hours.

Between 1 and 3 inches of snow is likely for New York City.

Forecasters point out that the timing of the precipitation is of greater concern than the accumulation. Thursday's commute will likely be slippery and slow, so travelers should allow extra time, whether they're taking public transit or driving.

Snow should taper off by noon, but the white stuff will stick with high temperatures hovering around the freezing mark or below.

Friday will be even colder, with highs not expected to exceed the low 20s. Wind chill will make it feel like below zero in the five boroughs, making way for a cold weekend.
