24,000 NYC Workers Remain Unvaccinated

New York City officials say 91 percent of municipal workers have been vaccinated, leaving about 24,000 who haven’t gotten the shot.

That means they’ll be placed on unpaid leave beginning on Monday. That includes about 8,000 NYPD officers, 3,700 FDNY employees and 2,000 sanitation workers.

Another 2,000 firefighters have gone on medical leave in an apparent protest of the vaccine mandate.

“Irresponsible bogus sick leave by some of our members is creating a danger for New Yorkers and their fellow Firefighters,” Commissioner Daniel Nigro said in a statement.
