An explosion shook a street in Long Island City, Queens, Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were called to 47th Avenue near 39th Street in the borough just before 11 a.m.
Crews on the scene were examining a structure behind a house where a piece of equipment exploded as someone was working on it, CBS New York reports.
One person was taken to Cornell Medical Center with serious burns, authorities say.
The incident is still under investigation.
