New York Jets assistant coach Greg Knapp, 58, has died after being critically injured in a biking accident in California.

The 58-year-old was riding a bike when he was struck by a car this past Saturday near his home while trying to cross a busy intersection. Preliminary reports say the driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation. Officials do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor.

Knapp is survived by his wife, Charlotte, and three daughters, Jordan, Natalie and Camille.

Earlier this week, Jets head coach Robert Saleh implored people to “keep [Knapp] in your prayers as we all pull for him to recover from this horrific accident.”

The Jets are set to start training camp next week.

Knapp previously worked for the Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos before joining the Jets in January as a passing game specialist.

Widely considered a quarterback guru, Knapp coached the likes of Steve Young and Peyton Manning in his 25-year NFL career. The Jets hoped he would make an impact on their No. 2 draft pick Zach Wilson.
