The FBI says they have foiled a plot by four Iranian operatives to kidnap a journalist based in Brooklyn.
Officials said they intended to smuggle her to Iran in hopes of stopping her criticism of human-rights abuses in the Islamic Republic. The FBI said they had been plotting the kidnapping for about a year. The target, Masih Alinejad, is in shock over the situation.
The operatives were charged with kidnapping conspiracy, sanctions violations conspiracy, and bank and wire fraud conspiracy.
