The pilot who safely landed an airliner in the Hudson River is now landing an ambassador position. President Biden nominated Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger to be his ambassador to the Council of International Civil Aviation Organization. That's a United Nations agency that works to develop global aviation standards. In 2009, Sullenberger was the captain on a U.S. Airways plane that lost power to its engines after hitting a flock of birds. He managed to safely land the plane in the Hudson River, saving the lives of the 155 people on board.
