ABC News Chief Legal Analyst Dan Abrams has a new book out called "Kennedy's Avenger: Assassination, Conspiracy, and the Forgotten Trial of Jack Ruby" and said that Jack Ruby could have gotten off with time served.
"He learned a couple of months before his death that he won his appeal and he was getting a new trial with the initial conviction being thrown out. If he had pursued a new defense based on Texas law at the time he probably would have gotten time served and had been a free man," said Abrams while on the "Len Berman and Michael Riedel In The Morning" show.
