Prosecutors in New York say they've opened a criminal investigation into the Trump Organization – that’s in addition to the civil probe that was already underway. New York Attorney General Letitia James' office has been probing former President Trump's business over whether it misrepresented how much its assets are worth.
James has filed a lawsuit to get the company to cooperate with subpoenas about its records. The investigation is “no longer purely civil in nature,” says Fabien Levy, the spokesperson for James. “We are now actively investigating the Trump Organization in a criminal capacity, along with the Manhattan D.A. We have no additional comment at this time.”
