The youngest girl to ever write a “New York Times” crossword puzzle is from New Jersey. She’s 18-years-old now, but Soleil Saint-Cyr of Princeton, New Jersey was just 17-years-old when she constructed the February 1st puzzle. Saint-Cyr also joins a growing number of Black puzzle constructors, which has been dominated by older white men. She also used more pop culture clues, including rapper Wiz Khalifa, that appeals to a more diverse audience.
