NY Transit Worker Fired After Using Sick Days To Gamble

An MTA worker is on the unemployment line after he was caught using his sick days to go gamble in Atlantic City.

The MTA says the unidentified worker had been calling in sick so he could have longer weekends gambling. He pulled off the scam for a year, telling the transit authority he had a serious health condition.

Then applied for and received sick time under the Family Medical Leave Act. That's when he got busted. Investigators simply reviewed hotel records from the Tropicana hotel, as well as looking at activity on the worker's "gold player card" at the casino.
