The Giants face the Browns in prime time this weekend on NBC’s Sunday Night Football but the question is whether Giants QB Daniel Jones will be ready for prime time as a player.
Giants head coach Joe Judge spoke with reporters about the situation yesterday saying Jones is dealing with “another lower leg issue,” in addition to the hamstring injury that caused him to miss a Week 13 win over Seattle.
Well know we know, according to multiple reports, the “lower leg issue” is a sprained ankle.
“If he can defend himself properly in the pocket, if he’s not at risk beyond any normal game, then we’ll give him the opportunity to play,” Judge says, adding that he hasn’t decided whether Jones or Colt McCoy will play.
Whoever plays, there is backstory as the Browns drafted McCoy where he played for two years. Jones wasn’t drafted by the Browns but Browns QB Baker Mayfield was and he told GQ last year that the Giants’ decision to make Jones the sixth overall pick in the draft “blows my mind,” because of his losing record in college at Duke.
