Having a passport is certainly exciting for folks who love to travel because it means you can go almost anywhere. But not every passport grants you access to every country and a new report reveals which passports give folks the most access.

  • The Passport Index has come out with their list of the most powerful passports in the world.
  • They ranked the 193 United Nations countries based on how many nations those passports granted visa-free access to or allowed visitors to get visas on arrival.
  • Topping the list this year is New Zealand, with their passport giving travelers acess to 129 countries.
  • Germany, Australia, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Ireland, South Korea, Japan and Australia are all next with 128 countries.
  • The U.S. lands at 21 alongside Malaysia, with American passports scoring just a 92, only allowing visa free access to 52 countries, and visa on arrival for 40.

  3. Sweden, Belgium, France, Finland, Italy, Spain

As for the least powerful passport, that goes to Afghanistan and Iraq, with a score of just 31.
