Tropical Storm Isaias arrived in the Tri-State area Tuesday afternoon after battering Virginia and the Carolinas with high winds and heavy rainfall earlier in the day.
NJ Transit passes were being cross-honored, as rail service was suspended systemwide "due to storm-related overhead wire and signal issues throughout the state.
The Staten Island Ferry suspended service until 5 p.m.
Metro-North's Hudson, Harlem and New Haven lines also suspended service due to high winds.
Subway riders were encouraged to complete their travel by early Tuesday afternoon, before the worst of the storm arrived. Subway entrances at 48th Street and Park Ave, 47th Street between Lexington and Park Ave, and East Helmsley Walk were closed due to the storm conditions.
The MTA wrote in an update that it would resume service on the affected lines as soon as condition would allow.
Isaias was expected to drench the region in 2 - 6 inches of rain, leading to widespread flash flooding concerns.
Wind gusts of over 60 mph were reported in some areas.
