A tropical storm warning is in effect for most of the Tri-State area as Tropical Storm Isaias drifts up the East Coast.
The storm was expected to make landfall in North Carolina Monday afternoon and then drench the greater New York City-area on Tuesday.
The National Weather Service warns of torrential rains and gusty winds that could bring down power lines.
Flash flooding is of particular concern for low-lying areas as the Weather Service forecasted 2 to 4 inches of rain — possibly as many as 6 inches in some isolated areas.
Flash flood warnings are in effect for all of New Jersey, all five boroughs of NYC, all of Long Island, most of Connecticut as well as Philadelphia and much of south eastern Pennsylvania.
While storm is not expected to severely impact New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Monday that the city is "not taking any chances" with Lower Manhattan, in particular, at high risk for flooding.
Coastal flood watches have been issued for parts of New York City, northeastern New Jersey and Long Island for Tuesday evening, during high tide.
