Newark is telling city residents to stay home at night.
Mayor Ras Baraka has imposed an 8 p.m. curfew, effective Wednesday night.
“No one should be on the streets unless there is an emergency,” Mayor Baraka said.
Newark followed the lead of Hoboken which imposed a similar measure earlier in the week.
The curfew is lifted at 5 a.m. every morning.
