Mayor Bill de Blasio is denying rumors online that Manhattan is being shut down.
“NO, there is NO TRUTH to rumors about Manhattan being quarantined.Whoever is spreading this misinformation, PLEASE STOP NOW!” de Blaso tweeted.
Speculation on social media said that parts of the city would be closed and that the subways, Long Island Rail Road and Metro North would stop operating.
NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan tweeted that the misinformation is “irresponsible and unhelpful.”
The MTA said it is running regular weekday service on Friday.
