Crime has spiked in New York City and the NYPD is blaming the state’s new bail reform law.
Major crimes were up more than 22 percent for the month of February, including increases in shootings, robberies and assaults. Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said the department is redeploying officers to troubled spots of the city.
Bail reform took effect this year and allows most suspects to avoid posting bail for their release.
