Beginning on Tuesday, drivers violating the 14th Street busway will be subject to fines.
Drivers who illegally park, load or idle on the street will face fines that start at $50 and could rise to as much as $250. They’ll be caught by cameras that are mounted on the front of buses.
The cameras were installed on November 21st and for the past 60 days drivers have only been subject to warnings.
The MTA said the changes have allowed buses to go 38 percent faster, resulting in 19 percent increased ridership.
