Crowds will gather at Rockefeller Center on Wednesday night for 87th annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
It’s a Gridlock Alert Day and several streets have already been closed in the area to make room for more pedestrians during the holidays. The NYPD is telling people to avoid the area completely beginning at 3 p.m., unless they plan to attend the ceremony.
Attendance is first come, first served and visitors will have to pass through a security checkpoint.Large bags, umbrellas and coolers will all be banned.
