Reconditioned Citi Bikes Shipped To Chicago

Citi Bike has shipped hundreds of their E-Bikes to Chicago after they were determined to be too dangerous to ride in NYC. The bikes were pulled from the streets in March after several people flew over the handlebars while engaging the breaks.

Alex Rafter, a spokesperson for Lyft, which owns Citi Bike, told the New York Daily News that the decommissioned bikes were retrofitted in the company's new Manhattan maintenance hub before being shipped to Chicago.

Rafter added that moving bikes between the company's different markets is part of its normal course of business.

New E-bikes will be back on the road in NYC by spring.
