I’d say that when the Brooklyn Nets went out and signed Kyrie Irving to a huge deal over the summer, they did it for just this reason—to have him put up 50 points a game.
Unfortunately, they should have signed him to score 52 a game.
Because not only was two points the difference between a win and a loss in last night’s 127-126 overtime loss to the Timberwolves in Brooklyn, it was Irving who missed the last shot.
Watch as Irving—whose 50 points last night set a record for most points by a player in his opening game for a team—loses his balance and misses the potential winning shot before falling back onto the court, laying on his back in disbelief.
