The MTA says on-time performance of weekday trains reached 84 percent in August, the highest since September 2013.
The on-time performance was a significant improvement from the previous August, when 68.8 percent of trains were on schedule.
“Today’s subway performance numbers provide yet another reminder that thoughtful and strategic decision making that targets the root causes of delays and that focuses on getting the basics right can yield outstanding results,” NYC Transit President Andy Byford said.
A train is considered on-time when it arrives within 5 minutes of the scheduled arrival time. At the same time, delays and major incidents fell in August.
