Lt. Christopher Siani of the 73rd Precinct has been accused of needlessly beating a man outside of a Brooklyn liquor store.
Police are currently reviewing a cell phone video that was obtained by the New York Daily News to see if the attack was indeed unfounded.
The alleged victim, Errol Everett, said he and a female friend left a family gathering to buy more liquor and when they got to the store several officers were out front breaking up a disturbance. As Everett tried to enter the store he was allegedly grabbed by Lt. Siani and taken to the ground where he said he was punched, kicked and then arrested.
A spokesperson for the NYPD said a review of the incident is underway and the Internal Affairs Bureau has been notified.
Lou Turco, the head of the Lieutenants Benevolent Association said, "The body camera footage will completely exonerate my lieutenant from any wrongdoing."
Everett has filed a notice of claim against the city for $5,000,000 in damages.
