Yankees Break MLB Record With HR In 28th Game

When the Yankees break a record, they don’t mess around.

At least not last night.

Because one night after tying the MLB record for home runs in consecutive games with 27 on Monday night when Aaron Hicks hit a three run shot in the Yankees 10-8 win over the Blue Jays, they broke that record in grand fashion last night in a 4-3 win over those same Jays.

Because not only did the Yankees DJ LeMahieu's lead off the Yankees half of the first with a homer off Toronto's Clayton Richard to set the record at 28 straight games with a home run, but Aaron Judge hit one right after him for back to back homers and his first home run since his return from the IL.

In fact, all four of the Bronx Bombers runs came on, well, Bombs in the Bronx as Gleyber Torres homered in the 2ndand Edwin Encarnacion gave the Yanks some insurance in the 8th as they broke the record set by the 2002 Texas Rangers in grand fashion.

With this current streak, 14 different Yankees have combined to hit 49 home runs and the last game in which the Yankees failed to hit a home run was all the way back on May 25 against the Royals.

The Yankees now sit at 22 games above .500 at 50-28 and are 5.5 games up on the Rays.
