With last night’s 10-6 win over the Astros they have not only picked up a “W” in their last six games but—after today—will have picked up three sluggers in the past 6 days.
Because after acquiring AL home run leader Edwin Encarnacionon Sunday and bringing back Giancarlo Stanton from the IL on Tuesday they will activate star outfielder Aaron Judge today.
Judge joined the team last night in New York when the Yankees began their huge four-game series against Houston.
Judge now rejoins a Yankees lineup that, incredibly, barely seemed to slow down despite the long-term absences of several notable starters. Despite missing Judge, Stanton, Aaron Hicks, Didi Gregorius for long stretches and losing Miguel Andujar to season-ending shoulder surgery, New York still ranks within the top 10 in most team offensive categories. Between these returning star hitters and the newly acquired Encarnacion, the Yankees now boast arguably the game’s most impressive lineup.
Just ask the Astros who, with the loss, have the third best record in the AL behind the Yankees who just leapfrogged them.
