Celebrity attorney Michael Avenatti says he intends to fight both federal cases that saw him plead not guilty yesterday. After being released on a $300-thousand personal recognizance bond, Avenatti spoke outside to reporters where he added that he “looks forward to being fully exonerated” by a jury of his peers.
He also repeated his previous claim that President Trump is behind his legal troubles – and went biblical in the process. "For over 20 years, I have represented David versus Goliaths in courthouses just like this one," he offered. "I intend to fight the ultimate Goliath, the Trump administration."
Avenatti stands accused of stealing 300-thousand-dollars from his client Stormy Daniels, and separately faces charges that he tried to extort more than 20-million-dollars from Nike. Avenatti is due back in court on those cases June 18th. Federal prosecutors in California have also charged Avenatti with a slew of embezzlement, bank fraud and tax fraud charges.
