Three family members from New Jersey have been killed after a crash in upstate New York.
The family from Perth Amboy was on a weekend trip to Niagara Falls when they were hit by an alleged drunk driver in Sheldon.
A 4-year-old girl, Kiara Hernandez, was killed along with her 32-year-old mother Mayelin Brito-Castro and 47-year-old Ondina Castro De La Cruz. Six others were injured in the crash.
Police said the driver of the other car, 20-year-old Richard Sawicki, ran a stop sign and T-boned the family’s SUV. He’s facing charges of vehicular homicide, DWI and reckless driving.
Police said not everyone in the family’s car was wearing a seat belt. The young children in the vehicle also didn’t have a car or booster seat.
Sawicki has been arraigned and is due back in court next month.
